I'm Ba-ack

I'm home from Louisiana, safe and sound. I'll have more to say after I collect my thoughts. Right now, I'm still getting used to sleeping in a bed, eating at will, and showering by myself. My face and arms are a little tanner, my hair a little lighter, I've lost a few pounds, and I'm still achey from that last night sleeping on the floor at the Baton Rouge airport. But I think I did good work and made a positive difference in a small way. My opinion right now? It was worth it.

Welcome back, my friend! I can't wait to hear all about it! But for now, yeah, just sleep and eat. :D

Thanks! I had Honeynut Cheerios (my favorite comfort food) this morning for the first time in two weeks.

Hurrah! I'm glad you made it home. Sorry that last night in Baton Rouge didn't work out...

Thanks for trying to find someone to take me in Monday night, Karen. I appreciate the effort. Brian had tried for days to find me a hotel room and some fellow volunteers and I showed up at the airport Hilton and tried to talk them into giving us a room. Ordinarily, the Red Cross would have found us another staff shelter but they were filled. The best they could do was to get us a conference room stocked with bottled water and MREs at the airport. I still had my bedroll but, damn, that floor was hard.

Welcome home!

I worried about you while you were away.

(You did see the light from the candle I lit for you each night, didn't you? It was a Karen-made candle, of course.)

What you did was a wonderful and generous thing.

I felt the warmth of that candle flame each and every night, Tina.
